Challenges Associated with High-Dimensional Data

As dimensions increase, data becomes more difficult to process and visualize. This problem is sometimes called the “curse of dimensionality.” High-dimensional datasets may:

  • increase computational cost

  • reduce model efficiency

  • create overfitting problems Machine Learning systems often use dimensionality reduction techniques to simplify complex data while preserving important information. Role of Linear Algebra in Deep Learning Deep learning systems rely extensively on matrix and vector operations. During neural network training:

  • input data is converted into vectors

  • weights are stored in matrices

  • transformations occur through matrix multiplication

  • outputs are generated mathematically Modern AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch are heavily optimized for matrix computations because deep learning models involve millions of numerical calculations.
