Multi-Class Classification

In multi-class classification, the model predicts one category from several possible classes. For example:

  • handwritten digit recognition

  • object identification

  • language classification A facial recognition system identifying multiple individuals is an example of multi-class classification. Logistic Regression Despite its name, Logistic Regression is mainly used for classification tasks rather than regression problems. This algorithm predicts probabilities and determines the likelihood that an input belongs to a particular category. For example, the system may predict:

  • 90% probability of spam

  • 10% probability of safe email Based on probability thresholds, the model assigns the final category. Logistic Regression is widely used because it is simple, efficient, and interpretable.
